Bridge design is a concentrated product of engineering and architecture. Design is not only structural calculations but also a choice of appropriate exterior form for acting loads  allowing for the requirements of beauty and elegance. Bridges are among the most beautiful structural forms as they clearly define their functionality. In practice mutual understanding and cooperation of qualified engineers and architects lead to aesthetically and constructively convincing decisions.

“Institut Giprostroymost” JSC has available a wide creative potential which enables its specialists to exercise an integrated approach to developing the following sections:

1. dimensional solution to man-made structures (bearings, bridge and flyover superstructures, tunnel entrances, battering walls and noise barriers);
2. colouring of construction projects; urban environment colouring;  
3. functional and architectural lighting (including landscape and decorative lighting);
4. monumental and decorative appearance;
5. display advertising and information appearance;
6. beautification and planting (including selection of planting stock);
7. festive decoration (including decorative lighting);
8. suggestions on design of small architectural structures,  stops of public transport; advertisement hoarding;
9. integration of projectible structures in the existing urban structure of  transportation network with a glance to the existing type of  the area being developed.

The Department of architectural projecting is engaged in solving such problems. Successful solution to the problems of the development of architectural appearance of bridge crossings which domineer the urban area of development and beyond it makes it possible to plan the extension of the activity of the Department and incorporate the design of the facilities of urban infrastructure.
